Thanks for visiting!Usually I don't really like female singers; too high, too whiney but then I heard Just Hold Me. I was instantly grasped by Maria's voice and talent - 1 day later I bought Apparently Unaffected. It became the soundtrack to the most important/sad and happy part of my life. The songs on that album bring back many memories (good and bad) and it means the world to me. I have now purchased more of her albums but this will stay my favourite. I can't even tell you which song I like the most - there are way too many. Maria Mena is my favourite female singer and I am very honoured to run her fanlisting. The previous one got deleted in october 2007 and I didn't even notice! Bad, bad me! Thankfully Tyler brought it to my attention - which was followed quite soon with an application form by me =). Ohw the nerves! But then I got the approval mail and bounced about like a 2 year old. Big thanks to Mellissa for approving me, and to Tyler and Krissy for bringing it to my attention and the poking ;). <3
Maria Mena is an artist who has always put honesty – both musically and lyrically – at centre stage. She burst on the Norwegian music scene as a 15-year old, with her debut single My Lullaby describing painful aspects of her parents divorce. One of the keys to Maria’s success as a songwriter is that she communicates her personal struggles and victories in a universal way that listeners can easily recognize and relate to. At the same time, her lyrics show a linguistic maturity rare in contemporary pop music.
