Music
Music is an art form in which the medium is sound organized in time. Common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics, and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture.
Indie Music
In popular music, independent music, often abbreviated as indie, is a term used to describe independence from major commercial record labels and an autonomous, do-it-yourself approach to recording and publishing. Indie music gained its freespiritedness and strident anti-commercialism and non-mainstream attitudes and philosophies in direct lineage to the DIY ethic of punk and 1980s alternative rock such as The Pixies and Sonic Youth, while simultaneously exploring broader song structures, lyrics, and instrumentation to which major labels and corporate distributors might have been more averse.
Music Stores
A music store (music shop / record store / record shop) is an outlet that sells recorded music. Although vinyl records are no longer sold in the majority of music stores, in favor of compact discs and audio cassettes, people still use the term "record shop", in conjunction with "CD shop" or "music shop".
